Let me frame a moment…
Picture this. You’ve set the stakes and everyone is excited, your players are off to the races, and you’ve just got to come up with an interesting skill challenge to move things forward.
It is at this exact moment that your imagination fails you. You need to sit there for a moment to come up with something. Uh, erm, something to do with… the fountain in the town square? The momentum is gone by the time you’ve got it sorted. It’s hard to come up with things on the spot, even for veterans!
Here’s my solution. As GMs in ages past have found, the answer is to use tables, tables, and more tables. I’ve put together eighty unique skill-based encounters to run a fun and diverse chase through a town or city without skipping a beat.
Contents
- 80 urban obstacles
- Arranged in eight tables of obstacle types
- Gaps
- Magic
- Mazes
- Monsters
- NPCs
- Obscured Senses
- Terrain
- Walls
- And re-arranged in 18 tables of skill solution
